Every Man’s Battle: Failure
Oh what a roar from the crowd!!! People clapping, excited and shouting for Joy. Everyone is just talking about you and your great exploits. The Paparazzi swarming over you and they just can’t stop.
Your family is proud of you. People look at you and wish they could be like you. Your reputation among your co-workers is far-fetched; the awards and medals are a proof of this. CNN wants to have an interview with you so does CBN and Fox news.
Eventually you are sought after in every news media.. Even the President can’t wait to recognize such genius. You are an icon in your chosen field.
A lot of people can handle success easily and of course, everyone wants to be successful but when we are faced with failure, a different scenario occurs. People say failure isn’t that bad; you only need to learn from it to succeed but can people really stare at failure with a bold face? Can we be strong when people are mocking us of our mistakes.
As humans we are wired to detest failure. No matter the situation, failure is not an option. It’s a mystery why humans don’t like to fail. Maybe it’s because of the events and emotions that follow failure such as anger, hurt, pain and disappointment. No one wants to feel those!
Guides have been created which state principles that help curtail failure. There are a lot of techniques that have been created to help people succeed. While some have advocated failure as the way to success and state that you have to fail to succeed, others have come out with positive reinforcement techniques. I’m not going to say who is right and who is wrong but we all agree that it takes a lot of guts to be cool when we fail.
How To Overcome Failure
How are you supposed to handle failure? Does your daily living depend on winning and losing? Before we get to that let me first ask: “what is failure?” What does it mean to fail? Failure is not an omission of occurrence and performance as most dictionary will put it but a state of the mind when the omission of performance occurs. If you failed in your exams, does it mean you are a failure; it depends on what you do after the event. Most people failed, moved on and became great innovators, business men and entrepreneurs.
As a Christians, I find a lot of meaning in the Word. Christ’s life is engraved in us so therefore if Christ is not a failure, we are not. Moreover, God’s blue print of your life is that you should succeed as stated in his Word (Jeremiah 29:11; Proverbs 10:22) but our lives should not be ruled by winning or losing. Why?
God does not focus on whether we win or lose but on making sure that we are happy and filled with his love which is why even when we are faced with a situation, there is always a way out. Consider this:
“for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again,………..” Proverbs 24:16(NIV)
“The LORD is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
Psalm 40:2-3 (NIV)“
God has given us everything that will make our lives comfortable. He gave his son Jesus to save us and did not stop there but gave us the Holy Spirit as our Inheritance to teach us his words in our hearts and help us in every situation. So when we are faced with failure or constantly pressured to Win, remember God cares.
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NASB
