Delhi is a historic city. It has been the central seat of power for many rulers, dynasties, kingdoms, and governments. It is the city that still keeps safe the heritage of old times along with the blessings of modern transformations. On the one side, there is the Old Delhi that has narrow lanes, winding streets that run into each other, ruins of old havelis, and some mosques. On the other side, there is a Delhi that seems relatively new, impregnated with imperial signs of the gone times. Spacious avenues with lush trees on either of its sides, huge government buildings, and numerous flyovers mark the fast paced life of this city. You can cherish the best of both during your stay. There are many hotels in Delhi of which are situated in Paharganj that offer a reasonable tariff. You can get yourself a luxurious stay in one of those five star or seven star hotels as well.

The City of Delhi has seen a number of intellectuals, artists, administrators, and kings. Chand Bardai, Amir Khusro, Ghalib — they all are the proud names of the city. The city has found many mentions in hundreds of books of famous authors. It was called the City of Djinns by William Dalrymple in the book with the same title. There is a lot to explore here. You can spend your time visiting the many historic sites, including old forts, palaces, mausoleums, etc. You can also spend time taking a walk across the India Gate lawns and several beautiful parks during the evenings and mornings. It becomes a bit difficult to roam about the city during daytime in summers are too hot here. But as the winters arrive, the weather in Delhi seems like a bliss. From Red Fort to Purana Qila to Nizamuddin Dargah to Rajghat to Akshardham Mandir, Delhi offers dozens of sites of tourist attractions.

There are many places you can visit. Some are tourist places, such as Lotus Temples, Garden of Five Senses, Dilli Haat, Jantar Mantar, India Gate, etc. Then, there are World Heritage sites such as Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb. Delhi has several museums for those with an interest in history. Gandhi Museum, Archeological Museum, Ghalib Museum and Library, etc. After you have explored the city quite a bit, you can splurge a bit shopping at many of the various shopping malls, Connaught Place, Dilli Haat, etc. There are some delicious cuisines that you must try while in the city. You can buy yourself a ticket for sightseeing tour of the city at one of the Delhi tourism centers. Everyday, the tourism buses called HOHO take a number of passengers to different tourist sites. This is nice way to travel cheap and fast in order to explore the city.
